Sandy Springs Dentist: A Beautiful Smile Is Precious And Priceless

Sandy Springs Dentist near meYou know the shape, shade, length and spacing of your teeth significantly affects your smile? And your smile greatly affects your self-esteem. So obviously, the conditions that negatively impact your smile include broken, cracked or worn teeth, discolored teeth, missing teeth, crooked teeth, decayed teeth, gaps between your teeth and “gummy smiles.”

The good news is with our modern technology and improved materials, these situations can be dramatically altered to create natural looking, long-lasting beautiful smiles. Each patient’s specific circumstance must be evaluated on its own merits.  Factors such as occlusion [bite], oral habits, available space, health of the gum tissue, severity of the problem and patient expectation must be taken into account when planning your cosmetic makeover.

Depending on the situation, there are a variety of choices that all result in excellent esthetic outcomes. For whiter natural teeth, in-office or at-home whitening techniques are available. Repairing teeth or closing spaces may be accomplished with tooth-colored composite resin bonding, porcelain veneers or porcelain crowns.

These procedures vary in time and cost and have differences in longevity and appearance. If you’re not satisfied with your smile or want to learn if you’re a good candidate for any of these remarkable techniques, call our office for a complimentary cosmetic consultation.

Sandy Springs: How to Choose the Right ‘Cosmetic’ Dentist

Top Prosthodontist near meOver the past decade there has been a dramatic appearance of ‘cosmetic dentists’ to the degree that almost every dentist is now a cosmetic dentist. Why? Because there is no such thing as a cosmetic dentist and therefore it is unregulated.  Because the term ‘cosmetic’ is unregulated there is no shortage of dentists pressing the envelope of ethics.

So how do choose the right dentist?

  1. Make sure your ‘cosmetic’ dentist is accredited by the American Dental Association and not just a member.  This would be a prosthodontic trained dentist, which is a 3 year post-doctoral dental degree specializing in aesthetic and functional dentistry.
  2. Don’t be fooled by all of the organizations that provide unaccredited certifications.  The only accredited specialties are those approved by the American Dental Association and cosmetic dentistry is not an approved credential.
  3. Select a prosthodontist who performs cosmetic dentistry every day.  Creating the right smile is more of an art than a science.
  4. Look for real reviews and a history of longevity within the field of prosthodontics.
  5. Request a consult and ask to see before and after results.
  6. Finally, trust your instincts.

A prosthodontist will have a significant amount of experience in complex cases.  According to Forbes Magazine the prosthodontist is the rarest dental specialty in the United States, making up less than 2% of the dentists.

So for the right smile make sure you have the right dentist, a prosthodontist.

Our healthcare delivery model is the Better Way to Coordinate Care.  In a group practice, my daughters and I have an opportunity to share ideas and develop professionally. This collaboration enhances your dental experience.

Our multispecialty group is composed of dentists from a wide range of expertise who practice under the umbrella of the same organization, the Right Smile Center.  Patients receive comprehensive dental treatment that is efficient and thorough. Systems and services are designed by the Right Smile Center deliver of high-quality, coordinated, patient-centered care.  We believe we can improve your patient care by having multiple dental professionals with whom to consult on and refer to for alternative patient care under one roof.

While most group practices have dentists with a single area of expertise, we provide in-house prosthodontics, endo, perio, implant placement and restoration. A practice with a diverse array of specialists is designed to attract more patients seeking a one-stop shop for their oral health concerns.

Improved diagnostics, new therapies, more sophisticated equipment – as dentistry progresses, is impossible for a single dentist to know everything the discipline of modern dentistry has to offer.  A multispecialty group fosters an environment of collaboration among many dentists – each an expert in a particular aspect of dentistry – to provide the greatest benefit to patients.  We believe better patient care is a direct result of our multispecialty practice.

Another aspect of a multispecialty practice is the use and sharing of highly expensive and sophisticated equipment to perform diagnostic screenings and deliver valued patient treatment. By working in a group practice, we can share the cost of deploying equipment that may have been too costly for a single provider.

Our model distributes both the administrative costs and the risks associated with owning and running a solo practice.

So when you’re here for regularly scheduled routine maintenance, take advantage of having fresh set of eyes examine you when one of us is out of town or indisposed.  We practice together because we have confidence in each other.  We hope you will too.  And when we can’t meet those needs, we’ll refer you out.

Dentist Roswell near me: Teeth Grinding

Roswell Dentist near meBruxism, a fancy word for teeth grinding, is when you clench  or grind your teeth.  The end result is harm.  Over time, on a regular basis the teeth become damaged and other possible oral health issues may develop.

Most people clench and grind their teeth without being aware of it during both the day and night.  When it is sleep-related, bruxism is a bigger problem because of the lack of control.  When it does occur during sleep most people are unaware of the problem until symptoms begin to arise.  While some of these symptoms are headaches or a sore jaw, they are masked by other factors such as too much stress, inability to relax, misalignment of the teeth, or even ones posture or diet.[1]

The cause of bruxism is not completely agreed upon, but stress may be the precipitant in many cases.  The clenching the teeth may be anxiety, stress or depression.  Other symptoms may include ear aches, insomnia and/or sensitivity in the teeth.[2]  The clenching or grinding puts pressure on the muscles, tissues, and other structures around your jaw. The symptoms may develop into temporomandibular joint problems, commonly referred to as TMJ disorder.

If you suspect you may be grinding your teeth, talk to your dentist.  An examination can rule out other disorders that may cause similar jaw pain or ear pain, including:

Roswell Dentist near meWe examine your mouth and jaw for signs, such as jaw tenderness and abnormalities in your teeth.  If it is diagnosed as night grinding, you can be fitted with a night guard (a splint) to prevent further damage to your teeth and other issues mentioned above.  The varying types of splints may prevent clenching and create a scenario where your mouth remains relaxed during sleep or during the day.  There are many approaches to retard the clenching behavior, many of which are more successful to daytime clench and grinders verses night clenchers.

Given that grinding and clenching may not fall within any one medical discipline, it may take a combination of approaches to permanently solve the problem.  However, dentist would appear to have the leg up on the other disciplines, give the amount of training and experience we have with your oral health.  Regardless, call the health care provider you are comfortable with to seek solutions to this potentially damaging oral health problem.

Sandy Springs Dentists : Advantages of a Multi-specialty Practice

Sandy Springs Dentists near meOur healthcare delivery model is a Better Way to Coordinate Care.  In the Right Smile Center, a group practice setting, our dentists have an opportunity to share ideas and develop treatment on the spot.

Our multispecialty group is composed of dentists from a wide range of specialties who practice under the same umbrella organization, the Right Smile Center.  Through collaboration among these specialists, patients receive comprehensive dental treatment that is efficient and thorough. The systems and services are designed by the Right Smile Center to assist you in the delivery of high-quality, coordinated, patient-centered care.  Our providers believe they can improve your patient care by having multiple dental professionals with whom to consult in-house and refer to for alternative patient care under one roof.

The real benefit is our providers chose the option to work with each other instead of working alone. In our case, dentists of different specialties work together so that patients can receive care that requires multiple solutions at a single location. While most group practices have dentists with a single area of specialization, we have in-house prosthodontics, endo, perio, implant placement and restoration. A practice with a diverse array of specialists is designed to attract more patients seeking a one-stop shop for all their oral health concerns.

Improved diagnostics, new therapies, more sophisticated equipment – as dentistry progresses, it is impossible for a single dentist to know everything the discipline of modern dentistry has to offer.  A multispecialty group fosters an environment of collaboration among many dentists – each an expert in a particular aspect of dentistry – to provide the greatest benefit to patients.

We of course have experience to provide a cross-over of patient care that allows us to cover for each other’s patients when one is out of the office or out of town.  Group practices can assemble a team of dentists and other experts to meet the unique oral healthcare needs of all our patients.  We believe better patient care is a direct result of our multispecialty practice.

Another aspect of a multispecialty practice is the use and sharing of highly expensive equipment to perform diagnostic screenings and cost effective treatment. By working in a group practice, we can share the cost of deploying equipment that may have been too costly for a single provider. Group practices distribute both the administrative costs and the risks associated with owning and running a solo practice.

An overview of the direct and indirect advantages to you as a patient.

  • Multispecialty group practices promote an environment that encourages and enhances communication, collaboration and peer review, leading to high-quality care. This is especially beneficial to patients with multiple or complex oral problems.
  • A multispecialty group practice can offer “one-stop shopping” and save patients time by scheduling appointments with several doctors on the same day at one location, coordinating testing, obtaining on-the-spot referrals and consultations and reduce the needless time involved in rescheduling when one of us unavailable.
  • Multispecialty group practices provide a setting in which physicians can specialize in a particular area and become experts. This means there are experts on hand to diagnose and treat unusual oral problems.
  • Many multispecialty practices have dentists in rare specialties such as prosthodontics or implant surgery that you can’t find in smaller, solo practices.

So when you’re here for regularly scheduled routine maintenance, take advantage of having fresh set of eyes examine you when one of us is out of town or indisposed.  We practice together because we have confidence in each other.  We hope you will too.  And when we can’t meet those needs, we’ll refer you out.
